National Park Service: The National Park Service has everything you need to know about our national parks.
U.S. Customs: Check U.S. Customs for travel rules and regulations. You can also print out an application form, both a blank or one that you can fill in online. Get all the new passport requirements and regulations.
The World Health Organization site.
The CDC for health warnings, immunization info, etc.
The State Department's official site. Has the latest information about policies, travel warnings, and more.
The Overseas Security Advisory Council has travel warning for overseas travelers.

Comprehensive Travel Site Guides (toolboxes)

Public Radio Savvy Traveler has a large list of web sites from travel guides to embassy addresses.
National Geographic has a well laid out site with general travel information and travel newsgroups.
Etravel Journal: Click on travel toolbox for an ATM locator, and more. Also has seat charts for all airlines with warnings.
Meeturplanet has a list with all kinds of basic travel information.
The Association for Safe International Road Travel offers a toolbox based on safety.
Tripspot has all the usual links plus links to newspaper travel sections and travel magazines.

About.com: Let them guide you through most major travel destinations. Good source for local information.
Travel Channel: Travel channel online. Has destination guides, vacation ideas, etc.
Kasbah offers world-wide travel guide.
Lonely Planet: Travel information. Has travel news, discussion groups and “theme guides” for travel ideas.
Frommer’s Guides online gives destination information and some critiques.
Fodor’s travel guides online also gives typical guidebook information plus consumer “rants and raves.”
Rough Guides: Comprehensive, contemporary coverage of destinations far and wide from Amsterdam to Zimbabwe.
Budget Travel Online has late-breaking deals and snap guides that offer recommendations for touring, etc.

AOW, Airlines of the Web has e-mail addresses for airlines worldwide, Euro train pass info, and more. Can hunt fares without registering.
Orbitz searches all airlines, gives you all information before registering. Offers hotels, flights, cruises, etc.
Expedia offers all kinds of reservations. You can get details before registering.
Travelocity offers full travel services, will give quotes before you register and let you hold rate up to 24 hrs.
Travelhub for discount trips using consolidators.
Priceline offers 2 options, name your own price (details of flight come after payment) or choose flights/times, etc.
Cheap Tickets Online. You must register to get fares.
Hotwire finds your one best flight and you have one hour to purchase it.
Kayak is an aggregator, it searches multiple sites and tells you the best deal. You then book with that site.
Mobissimo is another aggregator.
Travelaxe is an aggregator. Always check several sources to find the best deal.
