Congratulations Ms. Judy!

Judy Kotulis, longtime Youth Services Supervisor, was recently awarded the Michigan Library Association Youth Services Award of Merit. Kotulis was selected by a panel of children’s librarians from around the state for the award which recognizes a member of the Michigan Library Association’s Children’s Services Division who has made an outstanding contribution to library service to children in a Michigan community

“The thing that really stood out about Judy though was that there was no single thing,” said Holly Kirsten, selection committee chairwoman. “One librarian was nominated for starting a special collection at her library. Another was nominated for successfully leading her department through a move into a new building, but Judy did all that and more over the years.” Kotulis, known as Ms. Judy to her little patrons, said winning the award was “awesome.”

“I love what I do,” she said. “I never could have imagined winning an award for something I love to do so much.”
