McAfee is one choice for virus protections software and can be purchased online.
Symantec from Norton is another choice and can also be purchased online.
AVG is a new virus protection choice. They offer a free home version with less features. Click on products, choose free home version. Offers auto update.

National Fraud Watch from the National Consumers League posts alerts on Internet scams and offers valuable advice.
Scambusters has current info on internet scams.
Federal Trade Commission for advice and complaints.
Internet Fraud Complaint Center is joint venture of the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.
Better Business Bureau of Eastern Michigan.

Safe Shopping from the American Bar Association teaches a smarter, safer way to shop online.
TRUSTe: Web sites displaying the TRUSTe Privacy Seal are committed to abiding by a privacy policy.
The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) is an industry association focused on eliminating the identity theft and fraud that result from the growing problem of phishing and email spoofing.
Hoaxbuster, from the government, is the CIAC Internet Hoax and Chain Letter pages. In addition to describing hoaxes and chain letters found on the Internet, learn how to recognize and get rid of them.

Price comparison sites each work differently. Read the "about" statements on the site to see how they choose merchants and price comparisons. Also check to see if vendors pay a fee to be included. Some include shipping costs and other do not.

Verisign offers payment and security services.
Escrow.com sets up escrow accounts.

AbleAuctions for live auctions and a liquidation center.
All Cruise Auction: Register, bid on cruise. Can also do reverse auction.
Amazon offers large selection, has fraud insurance, listing fee and closing commission based on price.
AuctionAddict is strongest for collectibles, computers, tools. No insurance, no fees.
Biddingtons specializes in contemporary art, antiques, and fine art. Check out policies before using.
Ebay is the largest. Pay a listing fee and commission. Offers fraud insurance and now owns Paypal.
Ewanted is a reverse auction site.
FirstGov Auctions: Buy new, seized and surplus merchandise from the government.
iCollector.com is dedicated to trading antiques, fine art and premium collectibles on the Internet.
Onsale specializes in computer equipment. You submit your credit card number to bid. 30-day exchange, all sales final.
Priceline.com is a reverse auction site.
Sothebys.com and its authorized sellers guarantee authenticity and condition of items sold on site. Buys pay a purchase premium and sellers a commission on sales.
Ubid is a business to consumer site with brand new merchandise for home and office. Final sale except for damaged or broken items. Be sure to read the privacy policy.

AuctionWagon sells items for you. They also accept items to be sold with profits going to a 501(c)(3) organization.
