The Creative Writer's
Workshop

Writers: Bring your work to the Sterling Heights Public
Library during these informal sessions led by MFA candidate Sharon Cicilian
and workshop with others who are as passionate about writing as you. Use
this program to overcome writer’s block, get opinions on what is successful
and what needs work in your writing and help others improve, too! This group
will meet on Wednesday, July 28 and Aug. 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
in the Library Programming Center.
Registration is not necessary. Participants should bring 12 copies of their
work. Workshopping limit is two pages double spaced for prose, two poems or
five pages of a play. |

Head to the library for summer fun with movie nights perfect
for every member of the family. These free Family Movie Nights will be held
at 7 p.m. in the Library Programming Center. Refreshments will be available
for sale, with proceeds benefitting the Friends of the Library. No
registration is necessary for these evenings. Showings are:

Head to the library to see a movie based on a book this
summer. The Blind Side (PG-13; 128 min.; 2009) will be shown at 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 24 in the Library Programming Center. The movie, based on
The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis, is the
remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who
became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick with
the help of a caring woman and her family. Sandra Bullock won the best
actress Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. Registration is not
required. |
