The Creative Writer's Workshop

Writers: Bring your work to the Sterling Heights Public Library during these informal sessions led by MFA candidate Sharon Cicilian and workshop with others who are as passionate about writing as you. Use this program to overcome writer’s block, get opinions on what is successful and what needs work in your writing and help others improve, too! This group will meet on Wednesdays, Feb. 29, March 28 and April 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Library Programming Center. Registration is not necessary. Participants should bring 12 copies of their work. Workshopping limit is two pages double spaced for prose, two poems or five pages of a play.

 
Metro Detroit Gamers: Family Gaming This fall the Metro Detroit Gamers will be hosting gaming sessions for the entire family at the library on the following Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the Programming Center.
Feb. 18
March 17
April 14

The sessions will include many varieties of board games, which will be taught.
Participants are welcome to bring games. Come and learn a new game or enjoy playing an old favorite! No registration is necessary and light refreshments will be provided. For more information on the Metro Detroit Gamers, visit their website.

Mondays with the Gadget Guy Can’t quite figure out that gadget you found under the tree this Christmas? Have a nagging question about your laptop no one can seem to answer?
Head to the library for Mondays with the Gadget Guy, Chris Frezza from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 13, March 26, and April 23.
This program will allow participants to bring their gadgets and questions to Frezza for a one-on-one answer.
There will be a 15-minute time limit and questions will be answered on a first-come, first served basis. Sterling Heights resident Chris Frezza has worked with computers for more than 20 years.
He has been head of systems for the Suburban Library Cooperative for the past 21 years and is also co-founder and system administrator of www.camaroz28.com, the oldest and longest running Camaro website on the Internet (since 1993). Chris also co-hosts a weekly podcast show about all things Camaro that is available in the Apple iTunes Music store. Technology is not only a job to Chris, but a hobby and a passion. Saturday Classics @ the Library

Frustrated that the movies on AMC aren’t quite as “classic” as the true classics you think of?
Spend an afternoon at the library, munch on some popcorn and take in some truly great movies. Movies and refreshments are free. No registration is required.

Winner of three Academy Awards including best actor for Gregory Peck, this film is based on Harper Lee’s timeless semi-autobiographical novel.

Saturday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m.: Twelve Angry Men (Not rated; 96 minutes; 1957)
This movie pursues a jury’s dilemma to the limit and in the process becomes a truly rare film.

Saturday, April 28 at 2:30 p.m.: Casablanca (Not rated; 102 minutes; 1942)
This Humphrey Bogart/Ingrid Bergman film is a true Hollywood legend.
